You will float too - IT

I’m not often seen going to the cinema here in Trondheim, mostly because I find them rather impersonal, cold, dirty and in an outdated design. Perhaps I’m just spoiled with the many cinema-plazas of Bangkok, which I feel is an experience of a much higher overall quality. This past Friday, I made an exception.

The movie we chose was a genre I actually enjoy from time to time, but I have often complained that they are not “scary” enough. Prior to Friday, the Conjuring films were at the top of my list as the best “horror”-movies I have seen. But, as I went to see the dancing clown Pennywise, it all changed. The movie “IT” is probably the best, and scariest movie I have ever seen. Periode!

The movie has recieved really good feedback from film-critics and is on the way to be the best movie of the year. If you have a strong enough heart, and don’t mind becoming scared by clowns, then I strongly recommend anyone old enough to go see this movie as soon as possible!

It, also known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown or Bob Gray, is the title character of Stephen King's 1986 horror novel It. The character is an entity which preys upon the children of Derry, Maine, roughly every 27 years, using a variety of powers that include the ability to shapeshift, manipulate, and go unnoticed by adults.

Stephen King stated in a 2013 interview that he came up with the idea for Pennywise after asking himself what scared children "more than anything else in the world". He felt that the answer was clowns. King has also acknowledged on his website that he originally wanted the title character of It to be a troll like the one in the children's tale "Three Billy Goats Gruff", but who inhabited the local sewer system rather than just the area beneath one bridge. The character has been described as one of the scariest clowns in popular culture.

The character was portrayed by Tim Curry in the 1990 television adaptation and by Bill Skarsgård in the 2017 film adaptation, who will reprise the role in the film’s 2019 sequel It: Chapter Two.

And the best news: there will be a sequel in 2019! I can’t wait!

What is YOUR scariest movie, or don’t you like scary movies?
